Hillary Clinton officially joins the Moonbat Brigade

Hillary has announced that she is going to join the other barking moonbats and jumps on the bandwagon and gives up all hope as campaigning as a moderate and announces she will also vote for a filibuster much to the Republicans delight. She had this to say about her decision:

I oppose his nomination and support efforts to block his confirmation.

I do not think Judge Alito would advance the principles Americans hold most dear

Like I said before, the barking moonbat brigade will try to head off any attempt to put anyone but another Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the bench. As long as the Republicans are in control, they will not allow that to happen again. A top GOP official had this to say about any filibuster attempt:

If the Democratic left does a filibuster led by Kerry, that's found money for us.

There are repercussions of course, like alienate the moderate Democrats while appeasing the KOS and DU crowd!

About Damn Time

After reading this, needless to say I was overjoyed, because it's about damn time the military decided to get rid of the Beretta M9 9mm pistol and go back to the .45 pistols of old, well maybe not the old 1911 frames of old, but they have a few specifications to be met, like able to hold a 15 round clip (most likely a double stack clip as well as the 8 round single stack clip) and needs a rail up top to hold attachments and able be able to hold a silencer. They plan to designate it as a JCP (Joint Combat Pistol) that will have to serve the needs of all branches as well as SPECOPS as well. The Specops people have been able to procure there own weapons but I think they want to standardize all the sidearms, hence the need for it being able to a silencer being used. I am thinking with the specifications needed, my best guess on the manufacturers would probably be Heckler and Koch, Sig Arms (which I am very partial too, see this post here) or even possibly a Ruger. I am hoping for them to choose Sig myself only because its the best that I have shot yet but I may just go shoot a H&K on monday to see if it's as enjoyable as the Sig. Like I said, about damn time.

Sen. Murtha again espousing his Retreat and Defeat Strategy

Sen. Murtha (D-PA) is again calling for retreat and defeat again, only now calling Iraq a "Civil War!" and manages a few insightful nuggets from his mouth

All that he is doing now, is now he has figured out that he can't win using a frontal assault, and now is trying to attack from the rear by comparing it with our own Civil War over 200 years ago. Sen. Murtha also lets everyone else know that he can see the future too by stating this:

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., could win the Democratic nomination for president in 2008, but that she would lose in the general election.

I think she will put out feelers as 08 approaches but will back out last minute and let the other candidates kiss her rear for her support of her base.

Senate Minority Leader Concedes That They can't block the Alito Nomination

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) conceded today that they don't have to votes to filibuster the Alito nomination. Sen. Reid released this statement today

Everyone knows there is not enough votes to support a filibuster

Further down in the article he also stated he would still vote for one to send a "message" to the supporters of Alito, or in other words, so Sen. Reid can still appear (and Senators Kennedy, Kerry, Feinstein) can keep there base happy with the KOS and DU'ers base groups. Hell, Alito has even got the support of Sen. Byrd (D-WV) who also scorned the debate process C-Span (Video Here)and called the process "appalling". This is just another cheap stunt to keep the radical fringe of the Democrat party happy and to allow them to think in their "Ivory Towers" that they are stickin it to GW Bush, when only they are making themselves more irrelevant by the minute.

The Moonbats are barking again

The usual suspects are trying to delay the Alito nomination vote being held. They can't seem to realize that they are not in power and do not get to nominate the judges, if they would win a election, they can choose ie...Ruth Bader Ginsburg anyone? Kerry, Kennedy and Feinstein are now threatening a filibuster which would be good and bad, good because it would further marginalize the Democrat party and make them look like the extremists that some of the are, but bad because a highly qualified judge would not be where he belongs.

No Surprises here!

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito along party lines, which didn't completely surprise me. Short of Bush nominating some far leftwing judicial activist judge, you could pretty much forget getting the support of Senators Kennedy,Schumer,Feinstein,Leahy,and Durbin. The only two wildcards I knew were Senators Feingold and Kohl (admittedly I don't know too much about them so I couldn't make a educated guess) but they fell into party line and voted with the rest of there party, because everyone knows what happens if you go against the grain in the Democratic Party, if unsure google Sen. Lieberman and Formal Senator Zell Miller. Hopefully this will all be over soon...

I have a excellent Idea!!

Everyone in the conservative blogosphere should donate some money to a general fund to buy property in exclusive liberal havens like Malibu, Martha's Vineyard and set up either Violent Sex Offender rehabilitation centers or even homeless shelters and bus the people to these shelters and just sit back and enjoy the show, it would beat watching most of what's on tv nowadays (with exception to 24/The Shield/and Desperate Housewives), Who is with me?

I was thinking of some like: The Tookie Williams center for the rehabilitation of gangbangers (not too be confused with the Linda Lovelace center for the rehabilitation of gangbangers though). Feel free to leave any other suggestions in the comments!

Another Case of Not in my Backyard-itis

The enviromentalists are trying to fight vinters who are buying property in northern Sonoma county to grow the fickle pinot noir grapes popularized in the movie Sideways, but to the dismay of the residents, they are converting forests to vineyards and are crying foul because it damages there views or what not. The most ambitious and controversial project is the Preservation Ranch, which proposes of the 20,000 acres they bought, 2,000 acres would be the vineyard, and the remaining 18,000 acres would be reforested with the wine profits, seems reasonable to me, but the environuts want it to be there way or the highway, no room for compromise whatsoever. Pretty typical for californians in my opinion, not just there, but here as well in Monterey, people scream for affordable housing (median cost of a house here: $721,000 and affordable housing when available is normally in the 300k range, see my earlier post on the housing difficulties here and here, they all clamor for more power plants/affordable housing as long as it isn't in there backyard...

Question: Where Was the Rest of the Team?

Last night Kobe Bryant scored a amazing 81 points in the Lakers win against the Toronto Raptors, 122-104. I don't usually follow basketball, but something like this caught my attention (I do usually watch the NBA Finals though and will usually root for either the Nuggets if they ever get there or a California team). Final tally: Kobe - 81points, Rest of the team - 41 points. He played about 42 minutes total (out of 60 for you fellow non followers of basketball), and also this was the second highest point total for one person, Wilt Chamberlin only scored more points, 100 on March 2nd, 1962. Quite a feat in my humble non basketball following opinion...

Code Pink Kicked off the Curb!!!

At the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, which has been displaying there anti war rhetoric and trying to demoralize the injured troops for some time now. First they get caught stealing a sign that the proud parents of a Marine hung on the fence at Walter Reed which said "No Protest Zone, Soldiers Healing," now Code Pink forgot to renew the permit for their weekly protests, when a patriot, a guy named Concrete Bob stepped up and purchased the permit, more can be read here. Finally our troops can begin to heal without having to see the vile protests anymore, and let's give a hand to the counter protestors who were out there trying to counteract Code Pink, the DC Chapter of Protest Warrior and the DC Free Republic Chapter!

This Actually Sounds Like a Good Idea

Kudo's to Steven Soderbergh for him and his company with 2 maverick billionaires, Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner are thinking outside the box with Soderbergh's new movie Bubble! They are releasing it in the movie theatres, dvd, and to HDnet Movies (cable channel that will show it) simultaneously. Of course not everyone thinks it's a great idea, the biggest theatre chains are not going to show it, the only chain that is showing it that I know of is Landmark Theatres. The president of the National Association of Theater Owners had this to say about it:

It's the biggest threat to the viability of the cinema industry today

As it stands now, going to the movies at the theatre is a rip off, here in Monterey, the last time I checked, a matinee runs $5.50 for shows before 2 p.m and after that they are $8.50. I know in Los Angeles as well, the prices go up to $14 for a evening show. With those prices I only go to movies that pretty much have to translate to the big screen, movies like King Kong, Star Wars, War Of The Worlds and the rest of the movies I wait to see on dvd, that's the main reason why I won't go see Brokeback Mountain, no matter how good or bad the movie is, it will look the same on a 42" DLP tv or a movie screen. This way rather than getting dragged to a chick flick at the theatre, I can either go rent or buy it. Its a win win situation for me.

Speaking of Bad Presidents

Jimmy Carter again interjects his worthless 2 pennies into the news again, this time about Hamas saying that their involvement in the Palestinian elections was a good thing. He also had this to say about Hamas:

Carter told CNN in an interview that although Hamas were "so-called terrorists," so far "there have been no complaints of corruption against [their] elected officials."

This coming from a person who talked up about Yassir Arafat, one of the most notorious embezzlers and terrorist of all time. Jimmy, here is a clue, go back to killing rabbits or building houses for Habitat For Humanity and leave politics to the grown-ups.

Top senate democrats oppose Judge Alito's Supreme Court Nomination. Short of Alito openly endorsing abortion, gay marriage and the rest of the Dem agenda, there would be a better chance that the Houston Texans will win the superbowl next year than Judge Alito getting getting the support of Sen. Durbin, Sen. Leahy and Sen Kennedy. Just listen to what the "Irrelevent 3" have to say)

Sen. Leahy:

I will not lend my support to an effort by this president to move the Supreme Court and the law radically to the right

There is no reason to believe that Judge Alito will serve as an effective check and balance on government intrusion

Now for Sen. Durbin:

Based on his record, I'm concerned that Judge Alito will not be willing to stand up to a president who is determined to seize too much power over our personal lives

In case after case, he has voted -- often as the lone dissenter on his court -- against the dispossessed, the poor and the powerless

Finally, Sen. (Put a Blonde In the Pond) Ted Kennedy:

His record just does not show a judge who is committed to equal justice under law.

Here is a clue for the clueless, Win a election and then you can pick who you want on the Supreme Court, anyone remember the ACLU card carrying Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she is about as extremist as they get but nary a complaint from the Dems.

Excellent Op-Ed from a surprising source

As I was doing my daily morning news/blog surfing, I came across this opinion piece from a surprising source...the LA Times! The piece was very well written in my opionion, and here are a few noteworthy excerpts:

I CAN CERTAINLY understand the uproar over President Bush's flagrant abuses of civil liberties. This is America. What right does that fascist in the White House have to imprison Michael Moore, wiretap Nancy Pelosi and blackmail Howard Dean?

Wait. You mean he hasn't done those things? All he's done is intercept communications between terrorists abroad and their contacts in the U.S. without a court order? Talk about defining impeachable offenses downward.

and...

All you have to do is recite this litany of excess to realize the absurdity of the cries of impeachment coming from the loonier precincts of the left. Muttering about "slippery slopes" isn't enough to convince most people that fascism is descending. If the president's critics want that part of the nation that doesn't read the Nation to believe that he's a threat to our freedom, they'd better do more than turn up the level of vituperation. They'd better find some real victims — the Eugene Debses and Martin Luther Kings of the war on terror.

The anti-Bush brigade hasn't had any luck in turning up actual instances of abuse, despite no end of effort. The ACLU compiled a list of supposed victims of the Patriot Act. After examining each case, however, Sen. Dianne Feinstein — no friend of the administration — said "it does not appear that these charges rose to the level of 'abuse.' "

And although the government has occasionally blundered, it has also used its enhanced post-9/11 powers to keep us safe. The National Security Agency's warrantless wiretaps, which have generated so much controversy, helped catch, among others, a naturalized American citizen named Iyman Faris who pleaded guilty to being part of an Al Qaeda plot to bring down the Brooklyn Bridge.

I agree with his overall assumption, while their have been mistakes made as no system is perfect in any regard, but the wiretapping issue really isn't a issue except for the terrorists.

Stories Worth Retelling

First story that I think that needs to be retold is the story of Sergeant First Class Paul R. Smith, who currently is the only Congressional Medal Of Honor receipent (posthumously unfortunately) awarded for actions in Iraq. His CMOH citation reads:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:

Sergeant First Class Paul R. Smith distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action with an armed enemy near Baghdad International Airport, Baghdad, Iraq on 4 April 2003. On that day, Sergeant First Class Smith was engaged in the construction of a prisoner of war holding area when his Task Force was violently attacked by a company-sized enemy force. Realizing the vulnerability of over 100 fellow soldiers, Sergeant First Class Smith quickly organized a hasty defense consisting of two platoons of soldiers, one Bradley Fighting Vehicle and three armored personnel carriers. As the fight developed, Sergeant First Class Smith braved hostile enemy fire to personally engage the enemy with hand grenades and anti-tank weapons, and organized the evacuation of three wounded soldiers from an armored personnel carrier struck by a rocket propelled grenade and a 60mm mortar round. Fearing the enemy would overrun their defenses, Sergeant First Class Smith moved under withering enemy fire to man a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a damaged armored personnel carrier. In total disregard for his own life, he maintained his exposed position in order to engage the attacking enemy force. During this action, he was mortally wounded. His courageous actions helped defeat the enemy attack, and resulted in as many as 50 enemy soldiers killed, while allowing the safe withdrawal of numerous wounded soldiers. Sergeant First Class Smith’s extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Third Infantry Division “Rock of the Marne,” and the United States Army.

A true American hero.

The Second story that needs to be retold, I found reposted at the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler blog. I originally saw this article and accompanied picture in a email that was sent around a few months ago, and unfortunately didn't keep it.



Marine Gunnery Sergeant Randy Burghardt shows that he cannot be stopped by a IED. He is a Marine EOD Technician and well known through Iraq for his skills. Here is what led up to the picture being taken, told by Stars And Stripes:

Last September, an embedded journalist snapped a photo of Burghardt moments after a roadside bomb exploded on him in a notoriously troubled corner of western Ramadi — a city that Burghardt describes as “the scariest place on Earth.” The image shows Burghardt with bloodied legs and shredded uniform, flipping the bird to an unseen insurgent who triggered the bomb.

The day Burghardt found himself checkmated by a roadside bomber was Sept. 19. He was in Ramadi’s wild Tammim neighborhood as part of a team of bomb technicians responding to the scene of a chaotic ambush in which four U.S. personnel were killed.

Burghardt, who was looking to clear an evacuation route for the vehicles, hopped into what he thought was a recent bomb crater. He said he saw an interesting piece of shrapnel in the 4½-foot- deep hole and wanted to investigate. As he took a closer look, the shattered gravel beneath his foot suddenly shifted, revealing a package wrapped in orange plastic and a cordless telephone base station.

Realizing that he had just stumbled onto a primed explosive, Burghardt stuck his knife in the dirt and dredged up a red detonating cord that led to a pair of 122 mm artillery shells. He cut the cord with scissors and told the rest of his team to stay back.

“I thought I had done good,” Burghardt said.

But what he didn’t realize was that a second detonating cord ran from the base station to a third artillery shell buried behind him. The triggerman, figuring perhaps that he wouldn’t lure anyone else into the trap that day, placed a telephone call to the base station.

“That’s when I heard the distinct crack of that artillery shell,” Burghardt said.

The explosion sent Burghardt 10 feet into the air and dropped him in a heap on the road as his team watched in horror.

Medics cut away his bloody pants to reveal that the backs of his legs had been studded with shrapnel and bruised from the top of his boots to his waist. As they prepared to place him in a stretcher, Burghardt shouted, “No.” He didn’t want his teammates or the insurgents to see him carried from the scene. He was going to walk.

As he was helped to his feet, Burghardt said, he felt a wave of anger and adrenaline flow through his system. He had just extended his Iraq tour that morning and he was livid that he had been bested by the bomber.

“I was really pissed off that they got me, that after all this time, they got me,” Burghardt said. “I figured the triggerman was still watching, so I flipped him off. I yelled, ‘[Expletive] you! I’ll be out here next week!’”

It was at this moment that photographer Jeff Bundy of the Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald snapped the photo that would be seen on office walls, refrigerators, screensavers, Web sites and newspapers throughout Iraq and the U.S.

If I ever happend upon meeting Gunny Burghardt, he wouldn't have to worry about buying a beer as long as I have money....

According to a new study:

Internet users can give Web sites a thumbs up or thumbs down in less than the blink of an eye, according to a study by Canadian researchers.

In just a brief one-twentieth of a second -- less than half the time it takes to blink -- people make aesthetic judgments that influence the rest of their experience with an Internet site.

I am still amazed by the fact that I average about 20 hits on this site a day (today is way different though, thanks to the link from John Hawkins over at Right Wing News as the random site of the day, I had almost 50 by the time I woke up this morning)!

Again, The Nose On Your Face hits another homerun in the humor department, this time it is satirizing the Gov Ray Nagins "it is time to rebuild a chocolate New Orleans" comment with their commentary called:

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin continues to come under fire for remarking earlier this week that "it is time to rebuild a chocolate New Orleans." In an attempt to better explain himself, Nagin released the following statement just moments ago:

"A lot is being said about the comments I recently made regarding the rebuilding of New Orleans as a chocolate city. Some have called my remarks poorly chosen. Others have gone so far as to categorize them as 'racist'. Those who know me best know that I am no racist. I could sit here and defend my actions, but I do not feel I need to. The fact that some of my best friends are made of white chocolate speaks for itself.

However, in the spirit of healing and reconciliation I would like to leave you with the immortal song by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. It goes a little something like this:

Democrats Trying again to Stifle Free Speech

Of those whose ideas are not in line with the liberal agenda. They are attempting to silence the Rush Limbaugh's and Bill O'Reilly's because they do not own the AM radio like they own the TV stations and newspapers. The right slanted talking head pundit shows constantly slaughter the left slanted talking head pundit shows! Brian Anderson (Author of the book South Park Conservatives and Senior Editor of the Manhattan based City Journal)has a scathing report on how the MSM and liberals are trying to silence them. The rise of alternative media—political talk radio in the eighties, cable news in the nineties, and the blogosphere in the new millennium—has broken the liberal monopoly over news and opinion outlets. The Left understands acutely the implications of this revolution, blaming much of the Democratic Party’s current electoral trouble on the influence of the new media’s vigorous conservative voices. Instead of fighting back with ideas, however, today’s liberals quietly, relentlessly, and illiberally are working to smother this flourishing universe of political discourse under a tangle of campaign-finance and media regulations. Their campaign represents the most sustained attack on free political speech in the United States since the 1798 Alien and Sedition Acts.

The most imminent danger comes from campaign-finance rules, especially those spawned by the 2002 McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Act. Republican maverick John McCain’s co-sponsorship aside, the bill passed only because of overwhelming Dem support. It’s easy to see why liberals have spearheaded the nation’s three-decade experiment with campaign-finance regulation. Seeking to rid politics of “big-money corruption,” election-law reforms obstruct the kinds of political speech—political ads and perhaps now the feisty editorializing of the new media—that escape the filter of the mainstream press and the academy, left-wing fiefdoms still regulation-free. The ultimate pipe dream of the reformers is a rigidly egalitarian society, where government makes sure that every individual’s influence over politics is exactly the same, regardless of his wealth. Scrutinize the pronouncements of campaign-finance reform groups like the Pew-backed Democracy 21, and you’ll see how the meaning of “corruption” morphs into “inequality of influence” in this sense. This notion of corruption—really a Marxoid opposition to inequality of wealth—would have horrified the Founding Fathers, who believed in private property with its attendant inequalities, and who trusted to the clash of factions to ensure that none oppressed the others. The Founders would have seen in the reformers’ utopian schemes, in which the power of government makes all equally weak, the embodiment of tyranny.

The FEC thus has plunged into what Smith calls a “bizarre” rule-making process that could shackle the political blogosphere. This would be a particular disaster for the Right, which has maintained its early advantage over the Left in the blogosphere, despite the emergence of big liberal sites like Daily Kos. Some 157 of the top 250 political blogs express right-leaning views, a recent liberal survey found. Reaching a growing and influential audience—hundreds of thousands of readers weekly (including most journalists) for the top conservative sites—the blogosphere has enabled the Right to counter the biases of the liberal media mainstream. Without the blogosphere, Howell Raines would still be the New York Times’s editor, Dan Rather would only now be retiring, garlanded with praise—and John Kerry might be president of the U.S., assuming that CBS News had gotten away with its last-minute falsehood about President Bush’s military service that the diligent bloggers at PowerLine, LittleGreenFootballs, and other sites swiftly debunked.

It’s not just the blogosphere that’s at risk. The Left has also begun to use campaign-finance reform—not McCain-Feingold but equally onerous state regulations—to try to shush political talk radio. The oldest of the new media—Rush Limbaugh went national around 15 years ago—political talk radio is the Right’s dominion. Not one of the top 20 nationally syndicated political shows features a left-of-center host, and right-leaning radio talkers outnumber liberals three to one. Over 40 percent of Americans tune in at least occasionally to this extremely influential medium, and over 20 percent use it as a primary source of political information. Given the Left’s continuing inability to compete on the dial—its much-ballyhooed Air America doesn’t even register in the Arbitron ratings in some markets—its preferred strategy in the future likely will be to force conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and William Bennett off the air.

Scary stuff that the same people who will defend a crucifix in a bottle of piss, claiming freedom of speech will attempt to eradicate other peoples first admendment rights.

New Zogby Poll gets Democrats all hot and bothered

Despite the fact that the Zogby Poll asks a loaded question! According to the Poll:

The poll found that 52 percent of respondents agreed with the statement: "If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment."

With that statement I would even agree with that, but had the question been more relevent to current events (which Dems are "conviently" forgetting) to the effect of:

Am I a Homophobe?

For me refusing to part with the $9 (or $5.50 if I caught a matinee) of Brokeback Mountain. It's not because I don't like homosexuals (what they do in there free time is there business, not mine). I don't normally see non-big productions on the big screen, for example the last few movies I have seen in the theatre have King Kong, War Of The Worlds, Serenity, Sin City. It's just if I am going to pay out the rectum for a few hours of entertainment, I want to see the special effects on the big screen versus most of the movies I either rent/own on dvd which wouldn't make a difference on a big or small screen like Wedding Crashers, 40 yr old Virgin, 4 Brothers. Too me, Brokeback Mountain seems to be a rental/purchase and does not warrant me taking a trip to the cinema for it. I like Ang Lee's movies to, which is one of the main reason's I will go see it (hell, I even liked his interpetation of the Incredible Hulk, although most of the comic book aficionado's seemed to hate). So unless Brokeback Mountain has some special effects like aliens popping out of peoples chests or spaceships blowing up planets or even lasers or lightsabers, It's in the rental/buy category for me. This could all change now if someone were to donate the money for me to see it, that would change everything, and I would go see it tonight and give a honest opinion of it tomorrow, but that is as likely as Michael Moore becoming the new Jenny Craig spokesperson...

Another One Bites The Dust

Clarence Ray Allen was executed today at 12:38 am at San Quentin Prison, on his birthday, but also because of ol' Clarence, 4 people haven't been celebrating there birthdays for the last 20+ years either, so it's hard to have any sympathy for him at all. Worst of all, he didn't have Joan Baez singing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" out the fence at San Quentin either, maybe he should have wrote childrens books too like Tookie. His lawyers tried to argue 2 things: 1) That executing a blind, wheelchair bound diabetic was "cruel and unusual punishment" but from where I stand, I call that a mercy killing and 2)The fact he was on death row for 23 years was also "cruel and unusual punishment", the fact is that he was abusing the justice system and managed to stay on death row longer than one of his victims spent breathing (His first victim, Josephine Rocha who was only 17 yrs old at the time of her murder by Clarence). Justice was served today, it is now that we can positively say that Clarence will never commit another crime (also the fact that Clarence was already serving a life sentence when he hired a hitman to kill a witness and 2 innocent bystanders).

Louisana's Governor Says that God is Mad at USA

Because of all the hurricanes and that Bush lied about Iraq. He almost said something intelligent when he chided the african american community for all the crime and political infighting. God soon sent a reply through his publicist and said:

Gov Ray Nagin is clueless, because everyone knows that Bush caused the hurricanes with his magic weather machine in the basement of the White House. As for everything else, this only proves that Gov Nagin is a moron and that's the last time I perform a miracle and let him be elected!

As I returned from my weekend trip in my rented Cadillac DTS which is quite the upgrade from my 99 Ford Escort ZX2, I am trying to catch up on everything when this caught my eye from the Conservative slanted political satire site, The Nose On your Face. Its one of there top 9 lists, this one is called "9 Statements that Would Make Ted kennedy Cry" and here it is:

Anti-Death Penalty activists foiled again

In the DNA test ordered by Virginia Gov. Mark Warner to either prove or disprove Roger Keith Coleman innocence. Roger Keith Coleman up until he was strapped into the electric chair, proclaimed his innocence. Now the results are in, and the tests say he was GUILTY! Poor little activists that just have to continue spouting off false allegations about the death penalty, since their best chance to say I told you so have failed miserably like a Democrat candidate in a presidential race...

Maryland Manages to Crap on Wal-Mart

This just in from the AP. The Democratic controlled Maryland Senate just overrided Republican Governors Veto of the so called "Wal-Mart" bill. This bill mandates that companies that have over 10,000 Maryland employees MUST spend at least 8% of there payroll on employee healthcare or pay the difference to the states medicaid fund. Labor unions and socialists oops I mean Democrats were estatic with such notable quotes as:

"The taxpayers are giving a health-care subsidy to the largest retailer on earth," argued Democratic Delegate Kumar Barve.

"Don't dump your employees that you refuse to insure into our Medicaid system," said the bill's sponsor, Sen. Gloria Lawlah.

The Republican House leader had this to say

But House Republican Leader George Edwards called the measure an unwarranted intrusion into private enterprise.

"If you don't want to work for Wal-Mart, no one's twisting your arms. Go somewhere else and work," Edwards said.

Let me interject my 2 cents to Wal-Mart Inc., close all your stores (Wal-Mart's and Sam's Clubs) in Maryland and go somewhere else where your wanted. Big business is obviously not needed in Maryland.

GASP! Another super successful anti-Iraq conference

That drew a overwhelming amount of people, reports are conflicting on exactly how many, some say close to 200 people showed up, but other reports put it at over 100,000 (that number was compiled by the same people who came up with the unofficial democrat count of dead innocents in Iraq). There was top notch speakers, everyone who matters was there, like Cindy Sheehan and a special appearance by none other than Sean Penn (the superhero from the Bush caused Hurricane Katrina fiasco, where he risked his life in a sinking rowboat to save countless lives). Liberal Paradise PT 3 (Final one of the day)

The other thing that just kills me about this beautiful cesspool of Monterey, is that people are always bitching about housing. It's too expensive, there is not enough houses, not enough affordable housing, but yet when when a developer comes in and wants to build houses to ease the housing crunch (and employ capitalistic ideals of supply and demand) they go apeshit that they are going to ruin the beauty and charm of Monterey. Home Depot has always wanted to put a store here, but the retards here would never approve the permits to build one here (and help stimulate the economy by providing jobs and competition to OSH which helps lower the costs of both places). The only way they finally got one built is only because with the K-Mart and Sears merger, they closed the K-Mart here, and Home Depot swooped in and bought the property and finally built one. This place is sure full of near sighted ignoramus's for such a small population...

Liberal Paradise Pt. 2

As I was finishing the last post, I realized that I had alot more to say on the state of affairs up here in Northern California. Recently I have been looking into getting my first handgun. I have been dealing with firearms from M-14's, 12 gauge shotguns, .50 cal machine guns, M-60 machine guns, and 9MM handguns in my last 11 years of service in the Navy. So when I start researching the gun laws of California where I am stationed at, it just started blowing my mind, technically I am still a resident of Colorado (lower taxes and reduced fees on my california registered vehicles). In my research here, their is a 10 day cooling off period to purchase a handgun or in the words of the CA law, a concealable weapon, but yet their is no waiting list to buy a car or get a abortion, and the both of those easily take more lives by themselves than all the handgun crimes in CA. I propose fairness, make owning a car just like buying a handgun, they are pretty similar with exception to the wait list. In California before you can even make a purchase you have to get a Handgun Safety Certificate(car terms: written drivers test), after that, then you have to (usually) pay for the gun and wait 10 days (while the background checks are run, but they could be run on the spot within a hour, the technology exists). Finally before the dealer can turn over the weapon you need to demonstrate safe operation of the handgun before legally he can sell you the gun. Make the laws fair at least instead of being hypocritical. Either apply the 10 day rule to everything that can be harmful or dangerous or nothing. Certain weapons are banned like the .50 Cal BMG rifle because they are so concealable and if I ever felt the need to get in a tall building and start picking people off at random like Charles Whitman, he didn't need a .50 Cal Barrett Sniper rifle so why is it banned, because it makes the liberals feel safe in their safe havens like soon to be gun free San Francisco, nevermind that someone tried to blow up a Starbucks yesterday! Not too mention that the gun ban will only affect legal firearm ownership, when was the last time a criminal said oh wait, I have to wait 10 days before I can get a gun and start robbing or murdering people? Well maybe the barking moonbats believe that, but the rest of the normal rational thinking people don't. I hope San Francisco keeps the whining to a minimum when Oakland invades them. Add another liberal safe haven to the list along with Washington D.C and Chicago (also crime and gun free mecca's). One positive not again, at least when I do purchase a gun, me being in the military does exempt me from getting the Handgun Safety Certificate.

As I sit here pondering life in this Liberal Paradise

I realize that I will never own a house here short of winning the states super duper megastate lottery because of the median cost of housing here in Monterey region which is about $721,620. It's rather difficult to come up the industry standard of at least 10% for the downpayment (roughly $72,160), figuring in a 6.125% fixed interest rate, I would be looking at a $3950 a month mortgage. That would leave me with about $500 left over a month for all my other bills. Not to mention I have no way to raise 72k for the downpayment (short of raising my parents life insurance and finding a way to off them without getting caught, I have managed to stay out of jail this long, why start now?) but hey, I live 10 minutes away from Pebble Beach Golf Course (of course it would help that I even played golf or could reasonably afford the green fees for Pebble Beach which will only set you back about $395 plus cart rental if you so desire. The only slightly positive thing I can say about this place, is the scenery, of course that gets polluted when tourist season gets in stride. I was one of the few people who secretly hoped that NPS Monterey would get put on the BRAC list and relocated somewhere else, to spare any future military member the agony of being stationed here. The brightside of this, my 3 yr tour ends next December to which if things go right, I will end up far away from this rich yuppie/hippie anti-growth stain on california back to sweet ol' San Diego.

Sen. Chuck Schumers opening quotes on the Alito confimation hearings. He said:

In an era when the White House is abusing power, is excusing and authorizing torture, and is spying on American citizens, I find Judge Alito's support for an all-powerful executive branch to be genuinely troubling. Under the presidents spying program, there are no checks and no balances. There is no outside review of the legality of this brazen infringement on the civil rights and liberties of the American people. Undeterred by the public outcry, the president vows to continue spying on American citizens.

Ultimately, the courts will make the final judgment whether the White House has gone too far. Independent and impartial judges must assess the proper balance between protecting our liberties and protecting our national security."

Fair And Balanced

With everything going on this past week, needless to say, I fell behind in the stuff I usually do, well I finally got around to reading last weeks Dave Barry's weekly column, aptly called:Wilma, Rita, Katrina: No matter how you stack it up, 2005 blew This years is particularly hilarious as he makes fun of politicians, politics and basically everything of significance that happend last year. I want to highlight a few excerpts:

Politics

Of course not all the alarming stories from 2005 involved women. Some of them involved men, and at least one of those men was named ''Scooter.'' I'll be honest: I don't really know who ''Scooter'' is, or what he allegedly did. He's involved in one of those Washington-D.C.-style scandals that are very, very important, but way too complicated for regular non-Beltway humans to comprehend. You try to read a Scooter story, and next thing you know, you're emerging from a coma weeks later with spiders nesting in your ears. But whatever Scooter allegedly did, it was bad. We know this because pretty much all the news this year was bad.

This outrages congressional Democrats, who respond with a two-pronged strategy of (1) demanding that the troops be brought home, and (2) voting overwhelmingly against a resolution to bring the troops home.

In sports, the Super Bowl is held for the first time in Jacksonville. Defying critics who mocked it as a backwater hick town, Jacksonville manages to host a fine event, marred only by the 143 spectators killed or wounded during the halftime raccoon shoot.

In economic news, financially troubled Delta Airlines announces that it will no longer offer pillows on its flights, because passengers keep eating them. But the economy gets a boost when the jobless rate plummets, as hundreds of thousands of unemployed cable-TV legal experts are hired to comment on the trial of Michael Jackson. Jackson is charged with 10 counts of being a space-alien freakadelic weirdo. Everybody agrees this will be very difficult to prove in California.

n a related story, a California jury finds that actor Robert Blake did not kill his wife. The jury also rules that John Wilkes Booth had nothing to do with the Lincoln assassination, and that bears do not poop in the woods. In other celebrity legal news, Martha Stewart is released from prison. The next morning, in a chilling coincidence, all of the witnesses who testified against Martha wake up and discover, to their utter horror, that their sheets no longer match their pillowcases.

This column had me in tears, I recommend reading it because it is funny regardless if your a Democrat or Republican. He skewers everyone regardless of his own personal politics which is the way comedians should be. Al Franken should take lessons...and I leave you with his parting message

Don't Do The Crime If You Can't Do Time.

But with my interest in the death penalty lately, I just got back from shooting (see below) and was scanning the news stories when I read this from al-reuters. Good for the governator. Put the old guy out of his misery and give him the needle. Show them like he did with Tookie, that quadruple murders do not get a free pass when it comes time for them to face their punishment. As my parents use to tell me, don't do the crime if you can't do the time (granted I didn't go out and have a hand in the deaths of 4 people)

I just got back from the shooting range, Markleys indoor range and gun shop in Watsonville, CA. I was quite impressed with there selection and prices on firearms. The main reason I went is I needed to relieve some stress thats been building up from the last week, and what a better way to do that is shooting off some rounds at a paper target (at least it is for me). I have been drooling over this gun, Sig Arms P220 classic full size .45 ACP Semi auto. I have fired alot of different kinds of handguns, but the Sig has to be the cadillac in my book (I am not including the specialized .45 makers out there who sell for 2 grand and above, that would be a Rolls-Royce in my book). Now the only bad part about the Sig, is that your going to pay a premium for it, which for the P220 is about $800 base (price can go up considerable if you add any accessories like night sights, short trigger, etc...) Before I make a decision I may also try the Sig in 9mm and .40 S&W but probably going to avoid the .357 (main reason is I am looking for a home defense/casual target shooter, and a .357 is a little to big for me, I am 5'5" and weigh about 150lbs so it may be too much gun for me)

Starting the Year Right

The Denver Broncos have a first round bye and homefield advantage this year, and for more icing on the cake, won on saturday even though the game didn't matter much as far as the denver playoff picture....

My Favorite Movies of the Year

I don't get out to the theaters very often (hence the reason I have yet to see Narnia, King Kong or Walk the Line in which I have heard all three movies are excellent and sorry I have no intention of seeing Brokeback Mountain...deal with it)
